Tailored Treatment Developed for You
Personalized medicine: With the help of a revolutionary new test called Oncotype DX™, Fox Chase Cancer Center physicians are able to personalize treatment for select patients with early stage breast cancer. The test helps determine if chemotherapy will be necessary and if so, which combinations might be best for you. For some women, this test can show that chemotherapy isn't necessary, thus avoiding weeks of treatment and unpleasant side effects.
Oncotype DX™ evaluates the characteristics of the cancerous tissue removed during surgery. It is available to women with early stage breast cancer whose cancer is hormone-receptor positive and has not spread to the lymph nodes. A clinical trial is underway at cancer centers nationwide including Fox Chase Cancer Center to validate the use of this test.
