Fox Chase Cancer Center is a comprehensive cancer center formed in 1974 from the union of two institutions: the American Oncologic Hospital, established in 1904, and the Institute for Cancer Research, founded in 1925. The mission of Fox Chase Cancer Center is to reduce the burden of human cancer through the pursuit of new knowledge in basic biological research; to conduct research specifically related to cancer causes, prevention, and treatment; to apply this knowledge to prevention; and to render compassionate care and treatment to our cancer patients. Fox Chase Cancer Center is one of the nation's designated comprehensive cancer centers.
Merchandise for Sale at the Trading Post consists of all types of new and used clothing, household articles, small appliances, furniture, bric-a-brac, jewelry, shoes, accessories, sporting goods, books, and miscellaneous items - all sold at reasonable prices.
Articles for Sale are acquired from regular consignment, special consignment, and donations (both outright and for tax credit).
Trading Post Consignors pay a fee of $25.00. The fee covers one full consignment season from September through mid-May. All merchandise accepted for sale through consignment is priced by capable volunteer pricers. For any item sold, 60% of the sale price goes to the Consignor (for fiscal year 2009-2010); 40% to the Trading Post.
The Regular Consignment Department operates by appointment only. The consignor must be present during pricing. Twenty items may be consigned at any one time. Any article that remains unsold and unclaimed after three weeks in the shop becomes property of the Trading Post.
The Special Consignment Department operates for the convenience of those who are moving, settling estates, or otherwise disposing of household contents. A consignment fee of $25.00 is required. The number of items consigned on each visit is unlimited. The consignor need not be present during pricing. Stores and shops may avail themselves of this service. An appointment is required.
Quality of Merchandise consigned at the Trading Post requires that clothing be seasonal, in style, freshly laundered or cleaned and free from stains and damage. Appliances and other items must be operating. All other merchandise must be clean and in salable condition.
Donations of Merchandise Are Most Welcome at the Trading Post. The Donations Department accepts salable items as either outright donations or donations for tax receipts. These items are priced by volunteers. To receive tax credit, donations must be received by a volunteer and a receipt given for the bundles or parcels. All items should be clean. The hours of operation for the Donations Department are the same at the shop hours.
Special Gifts may be made to the Trading Post for the remembrance of both living and deceased loved ones and friends. You can click here to print out a Special Gifts form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). All such gifts received are forwarded to benefit cancer research at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
