The Trading Post

Volunteers

Volunteers dedicated to earning cancer research funds for Fox Chase Cancer Center founded the Trading Post in 1958. As The Trading Post grew, so did volunteer membership. Hard work, enthusiasm and dedication enable us to make a substantial contribution to cancer research each year. The key to this success is volunteers.

The shop is open from September through the end of June with lots of behind the scenes work done over the summer. Shopping hours are 9:30 a.m to 4:00 p.m. weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturdays. Consignments are taken by appointment Monday thru Thursday. Donations are welcome anytime during shop hours.

Volunteers

Volunteers work under a shift leader in two shifts daily. Each volunteer commits to at least one weekly shift and three Saturday per year. Volunteers are responsible for finding substitutes if they cannot make their shift. We try to be flexible when volunteers must make adjustments to their schedules, as we appreciate any help given to us.

Volunteers wear uniforms while on duty. Aprons with Fox Chase emblems are available to purchase for $11.

Volunteers may consign personal items at the regular $12.00 fee. There also is an annual luncheon in June when awards are given for hours accumulated.

Volunteering at the Trading Post is gratifying, interesting and fun. Our dedication to cancer research is a benefit to mankind. Volunteers are our greatest asset, and we sincerely hope you will join us.
