Audrey Weg Schaus and Geoffrey Alan Weg Chair in Medical Science
Established in 2001 by Fox Chase board member Kenneth E. Weg and Carol Weg, this chair is named for their children, befitting its focus on benefitting future generations. Created just prior to the Centennial Campaign, which Ken chaired and which raised $115 million for Fox Chase, this chair recognizes and supports an outstanding leader in medical science who represents the highest standards of excellence.

David S. Weinberg, MD, MSc, serves as the Chair of the Department of Medicine and the Director of Gastroenterology. Appointed Department Chair in 2008, he is a Senior Member of both the Medical Science and Population Science Divisions.
His research centers on the prevention and control of gastrointestinal malignancies with a particular interest in biomarkers potentially relevant to colorectal and esophageal cancers and in novel methods to promote cancer screening utilization. He currently holds research support from the National Institutes of Health, the pharmaceutical industry, and philanthropic organizations. He continues to maintain an active clinical practice in general gastroenterology.
