Wawa Takes Up Coin Collection for Fox Chase This Summer

This summer, when you stop at any Wawa in Pennsylvania, you can help women in our area get needed breast cancer screenings with your pocket change. Simply, drop your extra change in the coin collection boxes by the register. Funds raised from Monday, June 9 through Sunday, August 31 will support Fox Chase Cancer Center's mobile mammography van.

Your donations add up! In 2006, Pennsylvania Wawa customers, via in-store coin collections, donated more than $76,000 to Fox Chase Cancer Center. In 2007, they raised almost $146,000 for Fox Chase. In addition to coin canister collections, Wawa associate contributions, corporate matching funds and corporate grants have contributed more than $85,000 to Fox Chase since 1995.

Wawa has an ongoing commitment to the communities where it does business. The goal of the Wawa Charities Program is to positively impact communities by supporting programs and organizations that address issues Wawa associates feel are most important. Wawa associates are surveyed each year to decide how the funds should be donated. Wawa operates more than 570 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
