Research Volunteer Placements
These placements are treated differently than any of the other volunteer assignments here at Fox Chase. Our research faculty will review and select to interview those applicants whose letters of introduction, resume, and skills fit their requirements. This is a unique volunteer placement and it is very competitive. If a faculty member would like to interview you, those arrangements will be made by the Volunteer Services office. Unfortunately, we are not able to place every applicant. We will process your application once a placement has been selected.
In order to apply as a research volunteer, please email Helen Gordon, the Director of Volunteer Services, at Helen.Gordon@fccc.edu, the following documents:
- A letter of introduction which states your goals, your areas of interest, your skills, your availability and most especially why you chose Fox Chase Cancer Center as a potential volunteer research placement site. To help you narrow down your areas of interest, please go to the research section of the Fox Chase website (fccc.edu/research/) where you will be able to read about all of the research programs being conducted here. There are 5 major programs listed there….. if you select one, it will lead you to a description of each program and the teams working on and collaborating in those areas. By clicking on each faculty member name, you will be able to read their scientific abstracts, read about the other members of their team, their publications and other interesting information.
- An academic CV; and
- The names of the scientists with whom you would like to volunteer and also your availability during the school year.
Once these documents have been received, the Director will distribute your letter of introduction and CV to those faculty members with whom you have expressed an interest in volunteering, and she will be back in touch with you if the scientist would like to interview you.
