Calling all dogs and puppies for a one-mile dog walk
Save the Date! Paws for the Cause - Sunday, October 20, 2013
Each fall, hundreds of dogs and their owners make their way to Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia for Paws for the Cause to support our efforts to prevail over cancer. To date, the event has raised more than $175,000!

at Paws for the Cause.
My name is Heather Serianni and in 2009 my husband, Frank, was diagnosed with Lymphoma. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy journey, but almost four years later, I can honestly say, it has impacted our lives in ways we never would have imagined. Frank has endured months of hospitalization, various chemotherapy treatments, radiation and two bone marrow transplants. He has had a multitude of complications as a result. As a family, we have had to adapt to living with cancer, leaning on one another for support. Even our dogs have had to pitch in. They have been such good sports, faithfully sitting by Frank’s side when he isn’t feeling well and snuggling up with our son, Butch, when we’ve had to spend long hours at the hospital. Cancer is certainly a family affair.
We feel very fortunate that Frank’s medical team is among the very best in the country. While it has been a rough road it’s a comfort to know they are on the front lines of the fight. Cancer can be a pretty cruel adversary, waging war on the body, mind and spirit. Sometimes, the greatest hope a patient has is the promise of a new drug or new treatment. For every patient, cancer research is a powerful weapon. Paws for the Cause is a great way to rally for cancer research, and show our love for those who are part of the fight. We hope you and your pets will join us!

Registration for Paws for the Cause will soon be open!
Using online registration tools, you can easily invite your friends and family to sponsor you and your dog. Registration is $25 per dog in advance ($30 on-site) and includes one t-shirt ($10 for each additional shirt) and a Goody Bag! The site allows you to:
- Personalize your dog's fundraising page
- Send emails to your friends and family inviting them to participate or sponsor you
- Track your fundraising results
- Obtain updated event information
- Make credit card donations online
Vendors and Refreshments
Visit dog-friendly vendors, "Ask the Vet," get your face painted, enjoy breakfast treats and refreshments.
Jake created caricatures of dogs at the 2011 event and had a long line the entire time. Fox Chase is pleased to welcome him back in 2012.
Dog caricatures! Meet Jake, a talented student who will draw pictures of your pooch on the spot. Contributions are welcome and will be donated to Paws for the Cause.
Be a Top Dog!
Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers, contest winners (pet-owner look-alike; costume, pet trick) and the Facebook photo contest winner. Prizes include overnight hotel stays, restaurant, golf, pet items and much more! Donations and pledges are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
