June 11th Fundraiser for Cancer Prevention Allows Public to Ride Philadelphia's International Cycling Championship Race Course
PHILADELPHIA (April 21, 2006) -- Online registration is now open at www.foxchasegiving.org/pedal for Fox Chase Cancer Center's Pedal for Prevention, a fundraising bike ride on Sunday, June 11, at 7:00 a.m. Registered participants will ride Philadelphia's International Cycling Championship race course including Kelly Drive, the Manayunk "Wall", (pushing allowed!) and Lemon Hill. Pedal for Prevention is one of the activities associated with the Pennsylvania Triple Crown of Cycling Benefiting Fox Chase Cancer Center.
The website, www.foxchasegiving.org/pedal, allows riders to register in advance for the ride, create a personal homepage, and develop teams. User-friendly tools make it easy to solicit support from family and friends. By logging on, riders can see where they rank among other participants in their fundraising efforts. The simple web templates make fundraising effortless and fun.
Pedal for Prevention was created in 1990 by four cancer patients who wanted to celebrate their survival with a day of cycling to benefit Fox Chase. Last year's ride raised more than $40,000. This year's goal is to raise $100,000 to benefit cancer prevention programs at Fox Chase.
The Pennsylvania Triple Crown of Cycling Benefiting Fox Chase Cancer Center includes three professional cycling races -- the Lancaster Classic on June 4, the Reading Classic on June 8 and the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship on June 11. Over the next five years, Fox Chase will benefit from fundraising events associated with the three races. For more information about the races, log on to www.procyclingtour.com
The Pennsylvania Triple Crown of Cycling is held under the auspices of Commonwealth International Cycling, a Pennsylvania not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the development of cycling events and programs in Pennsylvania. Pro Cycling Tour, LLC is contracted to manage the event.
