    1. Nursing section from about.com
      (http://nursing.about.com/health/nursing) - one of approximately 650 sites on this "meta-guide" to the internet. Easy to use; strong transcultural section and very good section on "Death and Dying"
    2. Yahoo
      (http://dir.yahoo.com/health/nursing) Organized by anonymous people. Lists Most Popular Sites and Categories
    3. Hardin Directory
      (http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/md/index.html) - created and maintained by the University of Iowa's Hardin Health Science Library. Divides lists into Large, Medium and Small (The logic is that the large lists are the most complete).
    4. SUNY Buffalo
      http://ublib.buffalo.edu/libraries/units/hsl/internet/nsgsites.html - compiled and maintained by several health sciences librarians at SUNY Buffalo (one librarian also has RN). Has an academic flavor.
    5. NursingCenter.com
      (http://www.nursingcenter.com/) Another site produced by a major medical publisher, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. Able to search view tables of contents and abstracts from many journals plus back issues for free. No full-text access.
    6. Allnurses.com aka World Wide Nurse
      (http://www.allnurses.com) Begun by a nurse in 1996, it is now owned and operated by World Wide Nurse, LLC. Strengths include good nursing news coverage and nursing discussions. Contains many categories and extensive listings; indicates "new" and "very new" additions. International in scope
    7. CyberNurse
      (http://www.cybernurse.com) Authored by two nurses "from nurses for nurses". Intended for those who are interested in a nursing career. Not as academic as other sites; great humor section
    8. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition Database : This database provides nearly 600 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features abstracts and indexing for over 615 journals. This database is updated on a daily basis. Access is through the PowerPA library (Pennsylvania public library card number required).
  3. Sites for Oncology Nurses

    Oncology Nursing Society Online (http://www.ons.org) - ONS Online is published by Oncology Nursing Press and sponsored by the Oncology Nursing Society as a service to ONS members, other health care providers, cancer patients, and their families. Strengths include oncology news, research news and opportunities, cancer information and symptom management, online literature resources (full-text journal access for ONS members, CE opportunities and more).

    • People living with cancer (http://www.plwc.org) - the patient information website of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)
    • PIER (Patient Information and Educational Resource) from ONS Online (http://www.ons.org) - Brochures, handouts, etc are available on a variety of topics, such as prevention and detection, cancer diagnosis and treatment, disease specific information, survivorship, and end of life issues.
    • http://www.cancer.gov - Obtain authoritative treatment information, disease-specific information, and coping information written for patients from the NCI. Some information provided in Spanish.
    • American Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.org) - Order brochures in English and Spanish from this site. This site offers a Cancer Profiler, an interactive decision support tool to help enable cancer patients and their health care providers to make better treatment decisions.
