Literature Search Service

Research librarians employ expert information retrieval methods using a variety of online databases and search engines. Our databases index literature in many subject areas including biomedicine, nursing, and chemistry as well as areas of business and the social sciences. Each search is customized to meet your needs, and results can be provided in as little as 24 hours.

Online Research Training

The Talbot Research Library offers one-on-one and group training to users who want to perform their own database searches. Consultations and workshops may be scheduled with a librarian for topics in online research. Click here for more information about our instructional services.

Current Awareness Alerting

If you are following a topic and you would like to receive automatic delivery of newly published literature without having to repeat searches, a librarian is available to assist you. We can embed a search strategy into a database or search engine that will keep you up to date with all the latest information related to a particular topic/research focus or journal's table of contents.

Electronic Research Guides

Talbot Librarians use LibGuides to publish online subject-specific research guides. These are designed to make finding and using relevant library and web resources faster and easier. We can create a custom guide tailored to your department, lab, program, research focus, etc., free of charge.

Publishing Assistance

Librarians are able to assist you throughout the process of publishing your research. For example, we can identify a list of journal titles for submission or help you deposit your peer-reviewed manuscript into PubMed Central. We can also answer most questions about open access publishing, EndNote output styles, copyright, NIH Public Access compliance, and citation tracking.
