NIH Mandate   April, 2008

NIH Mandate – You must comply!

Have you had a paper accepted for publication on or after April 7?  If so, you need to act now to have it submitted to PubMed Central in order to comply with the new NIH Public Access policy. The Library will handle the submission for you. First, review your copyright transfer agreement to make sure it allows authors to post papers to subject repositories like PubMed Central. Also, check the NIH Public Access Policy section on the Library’s homepage for the policies of individual journals, since some will do this posting for you. If your journal does not post on behalf of authors, complete the library’s request form so that the Library can handle the submission.

To preserve NIH funding, grantees must follow this policy, so please call x2711 or email Karen Albert (Karen.albert@fccc.edu ) or Lydia Hecker (Lydia.hecker@fccc.edu)  if you have any questions regarding this policy.

For anyone who missed one of the earlier sessions, Mary Ann Sells, Director of the Office of Sponsored Research, and Karen Albert, Director of Library Services, will be reprising the NIH Mandate presentation on the following dates/times:

Monday, April 28 – 2pm

Thursday, May 8 – 11am

Both sessions will be held in the Library Training Room.

Please email Liz Duff:  ee_duff@fccc.edu  to register.
