Lung Cancer Awareness Week - Free Information Line
PHILADELPHIA (November 7, 2000) -- As part of Lung Cancer Awareness Week activities, on Friday, November 17, a free national information line, The Lung Cancer Information Line, will be open for 15 hours to answer questions about lung cancer. The number is 1-877-704-LUCA (5822). Free counseling and support will be provided for lung cancer patients, survivors, and family members. Registered nurses from Fox Chase Cancer Center will join other nurses from the Oncology Nursing Society and social workers from CancerCare, Inc., to answer the hotline from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. In addition, questions to the Lung Cancer Awareness Week web site http://www.lungcancer.org will be answered through the end of the year.Fox Chase Cancer Center, one of the nation's first comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute in 1974, conducts basic and clinical research; programs of prevention, detection and treatment of cancer; and community outreach.
