Fox Chase Cancer Center Hosts American Cancer Society, Pennsylvania Division Meeting

PHILADELPHIA (May 16, 2001) --� Fox Chase Cancer Center recently hosted a meeting of the American Cancer Society (ACS), Pennsylvania Division Board of Directors. During the day-long meeting, ACS board members visited the laboratories of Fox Chase researchers who are ACS grant recipients.

Garry Pincock, C.E.O., ACS PA division, Sam Bressi, ACS PA Division Board Member, and Barry Bittman, M.D., ACS PA Division Board Member met with Fox Chase researcher Dr. Beatrice Mintz to discuss her work on the development of a treatment for melanoma. Mintz has received a $338,000 grant from the ACS.

Fox Chase Cancer Center, one of the nation's first comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute in 1974, conducts basic and clinical research; programs of prevention, detection and treatment of cancer; and community outreach.
