Fox Chase Cancer Center Dog Walk Raises $10,000 for Cancer Prevention Research
PHILADELPHIA (November 1, 2002) -- More than 300 dog lovers with leashes in hand took to the pavement with their pooches to raise money for cancer prevention research. The 4th Annual "Paws for the Cause" dog walk raised approximately $10,000 for Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Highlights of this year's walk included the dog-owner look alike contest, the best "tail-wagger" wag-off, and the amazing pet-tricks competition.
Dale Scwemmer, of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., and her dog Lady were the favorite duo in the dog-owner look-alike contest. The winner of the best tail-wagger contest went to Madison who belongs to Greg Salicondro, of the Rockledge section of Philadelphia. Barry Yeslow and Maxie of Huntingdon Valley tied for the top spot in the amazing pet tricks competition with Munchkin and owner Ronnie Grando of Penndel, Pa.
Community support for the event was outstanding including the volunteer effort of Boy Scout Troop #563, Ortho Biotech and from 7-Eleven.
Next year's walk date will be announced soon. To be placed on the mailing list for information about Paws for the Cause, please email Maryann Krajkowski at m_krajkowski@fccc.edu or call 215-728-3024.
