Fox Chase Cancer Center Looking for Volunteers to Help in Resource and Education Center

PHILADELPHIA (September 5, 2002) -- The Resource and Education Center at Fox Chase Cancer Center is looking for volunteers to provide staffing assistance Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

A commitment of a 3-4 hour block of time at least once a week is desired. Ideal candidates would possess previous work or educational experience in a health-related field such as nursing or health education or communication. Other appropriate backgrounds include education or science-oriented fields. Excellent communication skills and a desire to interact with the public are necessary. Good computer skills with proficiency in Internet use are required.

The Resource and Education Center provides accurate and reliable cancer information to patients, family members, high-risk individuals, staff and the general public. Volunteers would be responsible for assisting visitors with the location of resources, and making referrals to other programs within Fox Chase. Training will be provided.
