Albert Accepted Into Fellowship Program in Medical Infomatics

PHILADELPHIA (April 15, 2003) — Karen M. Albert, MLS, AHIP, of Dresher, Pa., director of library services at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been accepted into the National Library of Medicine's fellowship program in Medical Informatics. This program is designed for medical educators, medical librarians, medical administrators, and young faculty who can become agents of change in their institutions. The course will be held at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts and will familiarize the fellows with the application of computer technology and information science in medicine, biomedical research, and health professions education.

Only 30 fellows, out of hundreds of applicants are selected per session for this prestigious program.

"I am eager to stay on the forefront of technology-related skills, concepts and issues relevant to Fox Chase Cancer Center," said Albert. "The spirit of excellence at Fox Chase goes beyond patient care and research. Advancing information technology is critical to our overall mission." Albert has also recently received her re-certification as a distinguished member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP). The AHIP program is sponsored by the Medical Library Association.
