Religious and Medical Perspectives on End-of-Life Issues - Fox Chase Cancer Center's Michael Levy, MD, PhD, and Rabbi Eliseo D. Rozenwasser at Har Zion Temple

PHILADELPHIA (October 27, 2005) -- End-of-life issues is the focus of an upcoming adult learning class at Har Zion Temple. Fox Chase Cancer Center's Michael Levy, M.D., Ph.D., and Har Zion Rabbi Eliseo D. Rozenwasser explore tough philosophical, medical and religious questions faced by the terminally ill, elderly and their families as their loved ones face the end of life. The seminar on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Har Zion Temple, 1500 Hagys Ford Road, Penn Valley is free and open to the public.

Rozenwasser is Associate Rabbi at Har Zion. Prior to joining Har Zion, he was the Rabbi of Adath Shalom Synagogue in Parsippany, N.J. Before assuming the pulpit at Adath Shalom, Rabbi Rozenwasser had been an assistant rabbi at Har Zion from 1989 to 1994. Rabbi Rozenwasser has been very active in the MetroWest Jewish Federation and with the New Jersey Region of the Rabbinical Assembly, where he was the Regional President in 2003-2004.

Levy is vice chairman of medical oncology at Fox Chase. He developed and is medical director of the Center's Palliative Care Service and is founding director of its Pain Management Center. Levy is the director of the Supportive Oncology Program at Fox Chase and also chairs its Medical Ethics Committee.
