Fox Chase Cancer Center Promotes Radiation Oncologist
PHILADELPHIA (May 26, 2005) - Radiation oncologist Gary Freedman, MD, of Richboro, Pa., has been promoted to member of the medical science division in the clinical investigator track in the department of radiation oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
"Dr. Freedman has been a highly productive and outstanding faculty member," said Alan Pollack, radiation oncology chairman. "He has made significant contributions clinically and academically in the areas of breast and gastrointestinal cancers."
Freedman is associate director of the Breast Evaluation Center at Fox Chase and oversees the breast cancer radiotherapy team. He also serves as director of the residency and fellowship training program in radiation oncology at Fox Chase.
Freedman is a member of multiple hospital committees at Fox Chase, including the institutional review board, a representative group of physicians, nurses, scientists, administrators and community members who review in depth all clinical studies at the Center.
He belongs to numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology and the American College of Radiology.
Freedman received his bachelor's degree in the classics from the University of Virginia in 1988 and his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine in 1993. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital and a residency in radiation oncology at Fox Chase. In 1997, he became an associate member of the medical science division.
