Prostate Cancer Risk Assessment Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center Welcomes New Project Manager
PHILADELPHIA (June 8, 2005) - Michele Jones, of Abington, Pa., has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center as project manager for the Prostate Cancer Risk Assessment Program (PRAP). She focuses primarily on the Recruitment, Retention and Outreach Core (RROC), designed to integrate Fox Chase recruitment and outreach efforts, in addition to handling recruitment, retention and outreach for PRAP.
The newly-established RROC helps facilitate the research of Fox Chase investigators by providing access to a productive, collaborative team of recruitment, marketing, education and outreach specialists with particular expertise in the recruitment and outreach of minorities and special populations.
Established in 1996, PRAP offers education, risk assessment, screening and an opportunity to participate in innovative prostate cancer research to men who are at an increased risk of developing the disease because of family history of cancer or race.
Jones has more than 10 years of management experience in development, marketing, public relations and education. Before joining Fox Chase, she was director of business development at Sacred Heart Manor, a 350-bed assisted living and nursing home in Philadelphia.
Jones also has served as director of community relations/marketing, bereavement and volunteers at Life Choice Hospice at The Fountains at Logan Square East and as director of social work and marketing at Cambridge Retirement Communities, both in Philadelphia. She continues at Cambridge as a marketing consultant.
A member of the National Association of Social Workers and the National Association of Black Social Workers, Jones also serves on numerous community outreach and steering committees.
Jones received her bachelor's degree in history with a focus on cultural literacy from San Diego Community College in 1992. She attended San Diego State University in 1996 before earning her master's in social work from Lincoln University in 2002.
