Patricia Weeks of Fox Chase Cancer Center Named Chair of the Board for BioStrategy Partners

PHILADELPHIA (December 14, 2005) - Patricia Weeks, vice president for planning and business Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been named chair of the board for BioStrategy Partners. BioStrategy Partners provides pre-seed and early-stage life sciences companies in the tri-state region with the tools they need to grow their businesses to the next level.

Weeks was appointed to this position because of her unique sense of the earliest of life sciences and their needs within the community. "I have had the pleasure of experiencing Pat's innovative, exacting and hands-on approach to our business issues as a Board member; undoubtedly Pat comes with both the credibility and the leadership skills to Chair our Board as BioStrategy moves forward and meets the challenges of its new initiatives in the months and years to come," said Carolyn D'Arville, president of BioStrategy Partners.

"The mentoring and service that BioStrategy Partners provides is essential to companies that are in the early stages of development. The scientists who made the discovery that fuels the work create many of these companies and while they're great researchers, they may not have the business skill- set to market their company or go after funding. BioStrategy Partners can provide sophisticated guidance in these areas," said Weeks.

At Fox Chase Cancer Center, Weeks is responsible for the negotiation of all commercial agreements, as well as the management of the Center's technology portfolio.

Weeks is a past president of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), which promotes, supports and enhances the global academic technology transfer profession through internal and external education, training and communication. In addition, she has served as President-Elect, VP for Professional Development, as well as the VP of the Eastern Region of this organization.

As a respected expert, Weeks has been an invited to speak at many national and international conferences, symposia and workshops on the subject of the transfer of academic technology to the commercial sector. She is also past chair of the executive committee of START, a consortium of area academic organizations, the Ben Franklin Partnership, British Technology Group and venture capital firms whose aim was enhanced technology transfer.
