Marcin Chwistek, M.D. Joins Fox Chase Cancer Center's Medical Oncology

PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 9, 2006) - Marcin Chwistek, M.D., has joined the pain management and supportive oncology care section of Fox Chases medical oncology department. He specializes in pain medicine and palliative care, supportive oncology and hospice care. Chwisteks special interests include integrative medicine and medical ethics.

Chwistek comes to Fox Chase from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he was an assistant professor in the department of medicines pain and palliative care section focusing on palliative care and medial ethics. He also served as medical director for the inpatient hospice unit at Family Hospice and Palliative Care, in Pittsburgh, and worked as a consultant in pain medicine for the supportive oncology program at Hillman Cancer Center.

Previously, Chwistek held a fellowship in pain and palliative care at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Chwistek attended college and medical school at Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland. He interned and served his residency in internal medicine at Yale University-Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Conn.

Along with certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Chwistek is certified by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and in pain medicine by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. He also has a certification in integrative medicine from The University of Arizona
