Danielle Shafer, D.O., Joins Fox Chase Cancer Centers Department of Medical Oncology

PHILADELPHIA (July 24, 2006) - Danielle Shafer, D.O., has become an attending physician in Fox Chase Cancer Centers department of medical oncology. Shafer specializes in leukemia and other hematologic cancers.

Shafer completed a three-year fellowship in hematology and oncology at Fox Chase. She was chief fellow from July 2005 to June 2006.

Shafer received her bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University and earned her doctorate in osteopathic medicine in 1999 at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Loyal University Medical Center, serving as chief resident from 2002 to 2003.

A member of the Sigma Sigma Chi osteopathic honor society, Shafer was named Intern of the Year at Loyola. At Fox Chase, she received the Amgen Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Grant in 2005.
