Fox Chase Cancer Center's Carolyn Weaver Receives Oncology Nursing Society's Excellence in Patient/Public Education Award
PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 2007) — Carolyn Weaver, RN, MSN, AOCN, clinical nurse specialist at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has received the 2008 Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Excellence in Patient/Public Education Award. This award supports and recognizes excellence and dedication to educating the public and patients about cancer.
"Carolyn has exceptional knowledge of the community resources that are available to our patients and provides a wide range of educational support to patients and their support persons," said Anne Jadwin, RN, MSN, AOCN, CNA, director of nursing services at Fox Chase. "She portrays the highest integrity, compassion and sensitivity for the cancer experience."
Recipients of this award must be oncology nurses. They also must have demonstrated initiative in developing or administering sound educational programs or public service that contribute to awareness of the importance of early detection of cancer.
Weaver has been a clinical nurse specialist for over 20 years and is an active member of the Bucks-Montgomery Chapter of ONS. She is a strong leader and team builder. Weaver supports the values and mission of the nursing department at Fox Chase. She is active in both nursing and patient-related organizations within the community.
