Real Estate Finance Expert Glickman Elected to Fox Chase Cancer Center Board of Directors
PHILADELPHIA (Jan. 2008)—Fox Chase Cancer Center's board of directors has elected Edward A. Glickman of Merion, Pa., to a three-year term on the board. Glickman will serve on the institutional advancement committee and the academic and professional affairs committee.
Glickman has been president and chief operating officer of Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) since 2004. He had previously been its executive vice president and chief financial officer since 1997, a position he had also held with The Rubin Organization prior to its merger into PREIT.
Earning dual bachelor of science degrees at the University of Pennsylvania, Glickman majored in bioengineering and health-care economics in the management and technology program of the Wharton School and the College of Engineering and Applied Science. He then earned his M.B.A. at Harvard. He held the position of vice president for the investment banking division at two successive New York brokerage firms, Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. and Shearson Lehman Brothers, before entering the real estate field.
"I first became aware of the excellent reputation of Fox Chase Cancer Center during my undergraduate bioengineering studies in the late 1970s," Glickman said. "Returning to Philadelphia in the 1990s, my family has directly benefited from Fox Chase's outstanding preventive medicine and patient care. I am now excited about the opportunity to assist the Center in furthering its mission of cutting-edge cancer research and the development of new treatment modalities."
Glickman brings firsthand experience to his role on the academic and professional affairs committee. Since 2002, he has been an adjunct professor at New York University. He holds appointments at NYU's Leonard Stern Graduate School of Business, where he teaches principles of real estate finance in the MBA program, and at the university's Real Estate Institute, where he developed the corporate finance course for the M.S. program in real estate.
Glickman also acts as corporate representative to major trade associations, including the Association of Financial Professionals, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and the Real Estate Roundtable. In 2007, he was named a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
