Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple Health will Race to Cure Sarcoma

PHILADELPHIA (August 21, 2017) – On September 10, Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple Health will participate in the Race to Cure Sarcoma 2017 at Warminster Park, presented by the Sarcoma Foundation of America. Current and former patients, family, and staff will raise awareness and funds to support prevention, early detection, and treatment for sarcoma, a group of cancers that appear in bones, muscles, nerves, and other tissue.

Fox Chase is home to some of the nation’s top sarcoma specialists and support staff, working together as a multidisciplinary team to diagnose and treat a variety of sarcomas. The team includes medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, orthopedic specialists, pathologists, diagnostic radiologists, and oncology-certified nurses.

“We have so many people working against sarcoma through clinical care, trials, and research, and the Race to Cure Sarcoma is a great way for us to come together with our patients and the community to advance that work,” said Margaret von Mehren, MD, chief of the Division of Sarcoma Medical Oncology at Fox Chase.
