Partners Program Celebrates 25 Years!
2011 marked the 25th anniversary of the Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners. In 1986 Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners (then called Fox Chase Network) was the first known cancer affiliate network in the United States. Today the Partner Hospitals are recognized for their commitment to quality patient care, in addition to providing access to the latest clinical trials and technologies.
What has Partners meant to you over the past 25 years?
To help guide their treatment decision, Genevieve called a family friend, Beth Glashoff, managed care coordinator at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, a Fox Chase Cancer Center Partner hospital,
"One of the hallmarks of a community cancer center is the development of long-term relationships between patients, their loved ones and the healthcare team. Our partnership with Fox Chase Cancer Center has allowed us to offer our patients state-of-the-art prevention, diagnostic, treatment and research services right here at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, where they are comfortable with the physicians, staff, volunteers and physical environment. Our patients get the care they want, need and deserve without compromising treatment or relationships because of the resources Fox Chase Cancer Center has invested in the Partners Program. "

"Fox Chase Cancer Center has rightfully earned the respect of those throughout the Philadelphia region, the nation and the world. We are proud to be connected to Fox Chase on an organizational level, but it is the personal relationships that our physicians and staff have formed with their Fox Chase colleagues that make our partnership so valuable. Congratulations to our friends at Fox Chase for 25 years of fighting cancer with innovation, hard work and compassion."

"As a partner since 1990, we are proud to have our Cancer Program at Paoli Hospital affiliated with Fox Chase Cancer Center. Over the years, many changes have occurred, and our cancer center has grown in many ways to allow us to better serve our community and provide expert cancer care close to home. Special thanks to our partners for their collaboration and expertise!"

"Dr. Engstrom has been a true visionary in establishing a network of community cancer care linked to a major comprehensive cancer center. Thousands of patients in the PA/NJ region have benefited from his program development, insight and expertise. It was an honor to have worked with him at Fox Chase Cancer Center, and it continues to be an honor to work together in the network. His contributions to the cancer care delivery model are invaluable."

"When Dr. Paul Engstrom spoke to Dr. David Flinker and me in 1985 about increasing Memorial Hospital's relationship with Fox Chase, none of us dreamed that our past association would develop into the Partners relationship between Virtua Health and Fox Chase Cancer Center of today. The success of the Virtua Fox Chase Cancer Program and the overall FCCC Partners Program is based on the visions of Dr. Engstrom, Dr. Robert Young, and others at Fox Chase, and the collaboration of a host of visionary community oncologists in our region. Congratulations to us all."
