CRCC houses comprehensive diagnostic services and treatment programs, as well as prevention, education and complementary treatment resources. It is a member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers and is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons as a comprehensive teaching hospital.
CRCC offers area residents access to a multispecialty team of cancer experts, who use the most advanced therapies, to fight cancer. These include:
- Medical Oncology: Medical oncologists at CRCC utilize a variety of approaches, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal therapy, to successfully treat patients with cancer.
- Radiation Oncology: CRCC houses the largest radiation therapy program in Delaware County. Radiation oncologists at CRCC use the latest available technologies and techniques, including IMRT, low- and high-dose-rate brachytherapy, dual-linear accelerators and 3-D treatment planning.
- Surgical Oncology: Surgical oncologists at CRCC provide a full range of services, including diagnostic, treatment, adjunctive and palliative surgical procedures. Advanced techniques, such as laparoscopic, minimally-invasive procedures, cryoablation and reconstructive plastic surgery are performed by CRCC surgeons.
- Research: In addition to working with Fox Chase Cancer Center on a range of research initiatives, specialists at CRCC also participate in ongoing national clinical trials and research programs. CRCC specialists are members of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), Radiotherapy Oncology Group (RTOC) and American College of Surgeons (ACOS).
- Diagnosis: CRCC doctors use a range of techniques to diagnose cancer, such as surgical biopsies; advanced interventional radiology procedures; cross-sectional imaging, including PET/CT; and breast imaging (mammography and ultrasound) through the Breast Health Program. Interventional radiology options include chemoembolization, radiofrequency ablation and vertebroplasty.
- Other Services: CRCC patients also have access to home care/hospice, pain management, nutritional counseling, integrative care, social work, support groups and screenings. CRCC offers such unique programming as the Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program; the Proactive Energy Program, which targets energy loss in cancer patients; and the Prevention and Risk of Cancer Assessment Program, which is designed to assess an individual's cancer risk factors in order to develop a strategy to reduce their risk of cancer.
