Crozer Regional Cancer Center, Upland, Pennsylvania
Located at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, the Crozer Regional Cancer Center (CRCC) offers advanced technology, programs and services together in one location - providing a level of care that rivals any university-based cancer center. The CRCC houses comprehensive diagnostic and treatment programs, as well as prevention, education and complementary treatment resources. It is a member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers and is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons as a comprehensive teaching hospital.
The Crozer Regional Cancer Center offers area residents the most advanced therapies as well as a multidisciplinary approach to the fight against cancer:
- Research: In addition to working with Fox Chase Cancer Center on a range of research initiatives, specialists at Crozer Regional Cancer also participate in ongoing national clinical trials and research programs. Crozer Regional Cancer Center specialists are members of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), Radiotherapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and American College of Surgeons Oncology Group.
- Diagnosis: Diagnosis: Crozer specialists use a range of methods to diagnose cancer, such as surgical biopsies as well as advanced Interventional radiology procedures; cross-sectional imaging, including PET/CT; and breast imaging techniques. Interventional radiology options include chemoembolization, radiofrequency ablation and vertebroplasty. Breast imaging techniques include digital mammography, needle localizations, ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, sentinel node mapping, stereotactic biopsies and MRI.
- Medical Oncology: Medical oncologists utilize a variety of approaches - including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal therapy - in the treatment of cancer.
- Radiation Oncology: Crozer offers the largest radiation therapy program in Delaware County. Crozer radiation oncologists incorporate the latest available technologies and techniques, including robotic radiosurgery (through Philadelphia CyberKnife in Havertown), low- and high-dose-rate brachytherapy, IMRT, IGRT, dual-linear accelerators, and 3-D treatment planning. Philadelphia CyberKnife, the most experienced CyberKnife center in the Delaware Valley, is a department of Delaware County Memorial Hospital, a Crozer-Keystone hospital.
- Surgical Oncology: Crozer's surgical oncologists offer a full range of services, including diagnostic, treatment, adjunctive and palliative procedures. They also use the most advance techniques, such as laparoscopic procedures, cryoablation, and robotic surgery using the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System at Springfield Hospital. Reconstructive surgery is also available.
- Other Services: Also available to patients at Crozer are such services as genetic counseling, home care/hospice, pain management, nutritional counseling, integrative care, social work, support groups and screenings. Crozer offers such unique programming as the Proactive Energy Program, which targets energy loss in cancer patients, and the Prevention and Risk of Cancer Assessment Program, which is designed to assess an individual's cancer risk factors in order to develop a strategy for lowering the risk of cancer. The center's Breast Health Coordinators helps patients to access Crozer's comprehensive breast health services.
