Springfield Hospital offers advanced diagnosis and surgical services for cancer patients and their families.
Springfield Hospital offers area residents a multidisciplinary approach to the fight against cancer:
- Research: In addition to participating in trials generated by Fox Chase Cancer Center, Springfield participates in studies coordinated by several national cancer research groups.
- Diagnosis: Springfield specialists use a range of methods to diagnose cancer, such as cross-sectional imaging, including Crozer-Keystone Health System’s mobile PET/CT scanner; and breast imaging techniques such as digital mammography, needle localizations and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies. Other diagnostic tools found at Springfield are mammography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, surgical biopsies and laboratory medicine.
- Medical Oncology: Although chemotherapy and other medical oncology treatments are not offered at Springfield, patients can receive treatments at nearby Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Delaware County Memorial Hospital or Taylor Hospital, which are also part of the Crozer-Keystone Health System.
- Radiation Oncology: Although radiation therapy is not offered at Springfield, patients can receive treatments at Crozer-Chester Medical Center or Delaware County Memorial Hospital, including the Philadelphia CyberKnife.
- Surgical Oncology: Springfield is home to Crozer-Keystone Health System’s da Vinci Surgical System, which is used for a range of minimally invasive, robot-assisted surgeries, including prostatectomies.
- Other services: Also available to patients at Springfield are such services as pain management, social work, support groups, and cancer screenings and prevention services.
