Dyanne A. Garner

I was born in Philadelphia and educated in the Philadelphia School System. I retired from federal employment with the Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights. I am married to Joseph Garner and we have two children, Robyn and Jerry.
I am happy to "give back" on the Patient-Family Advisory Council at Fox Chase. My husband was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma at another facility in 1999 and was told he would live for two more months. After recovering from such tragic news, our research and God led us to Fox Chase. Doctors King, Millenson and Nicolau provided my husband with an aggressive treatment that put his cancer in remission for ten years. During this time, he never had the complications associated with lung cancer. His doctors were proactive and never waited for an illness or complication to occur-instead providing medication and treatment to prevent them. Unfortunately, after ten years his cancer metastasized to his brain and his lung cancer returned. He had surgery to remove the tumor at Temple University, but shortly thereafter succumbed to his illness.
Because of my husband's love of Fox Chase and his confidence in his doctors, he helped us to accept the inevitable and for that I will be eternally grateful.
