Paul Fogel, DPM, PA-C

After many years of combined practice in the United States Air Force (USAF) and private and hospital based practice, I came to Fox Chase Cancer Center because I wanted to work in a hospital where I felt I could help the most people that both needed and wanted to be helped. I quickly learned that Fox Chase was the perfect place to be.
In my role as a physician assistant in same day surgery, I perform pre-operative evaluation history and physical examination. As a patient liaison, I offer education and counseling. I evaluate abnormal ECG reports and coordinate patient surgical clearance and cardiology consultation in conjunction with the department of anesthesia. As part of the perioperative care team, I perform procedures including suture removal, post-operative drain removal, drainage of seromas, intravenous administration and phlebotomy.
In my many years of practice as both a physician assistant and doctor of podiatry, I find the patients at Fox Chase to be the most receptive to receiving individualized care. They are both gracious and understanding as we help them through the treatment process. In my experience, it is not always like this in other medical settings, which is why working at Fox Chase is so rewarding.
Fox Chase has offered me a venue in which I am able to take time with each patient to explain why they need certain procedures. During our visits, I answer their questions and they certainly understand we are here for them if and when they need us.
It is essential to help patients understand our role as physician assistants as part of the team. It helps patients be more secure in their decision to choose Fox Chase Cancer Center as opposed to other "Cancer Centers" that have been established in recent years.
