Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

ACRFox Chase Cancer Center has been named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for mammography, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided biopsy, and stereotactic biopsy. This designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR's voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

Colon Screening and Virtual Colon Screening

CT image of a healthy colon

Under certain conditions, "Virtual" Colonoscopy may be safer for some patients.

For people at age 50 or older, screening to prevent colon cancer should be part of their routine healthcare. For people with higher risks for colon cancer, such as having a family history of colon cancer or personal history of certain types of cancer, screening may start at an earlier age.

Under certain conditions, CT Colonography ("Virtual Colonoscopy") may be safer for some patients: those patients who require blood thinners or patients with multiple medical conditions. Also, if a conventional colonoscopy has been attempted but could not visualize the entire colon or was incomplete, Fox Chase Diagnostic Imaging can step in with CT Colonography, a new way to examine the colon without requiring an anesthetic.
For more information about optical colonoscopy, call 215-214-1421.

Diagnostic Testing

Patients who have undergone diagnostic testing elsewhere often receive abnormal results. These patients may be referred to Fox Chase's gastroenterologists for further testing. We offer the area's broadest array of endoscopic technologies including endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP, double balloon enteroscopy, photodynamic therapy and Barretts' esophagus ablation techniques.
