The Buckingham facility is part of the Heritage Center at Buckingham, located two miles south of Doylestown on Route 263 (York Road) and easily accessible to communities in the central Bucks County and central New Jersey regions via Routes 202, 611, 313 (Swamp Road), and 413. There is ample free parking.
The Buckingham Team
Patients at Fox Chase Cancer Center Buckingham will be able to take advantage of the latest advances in radiation therapy provided by some of the nation's most experienced doctors using state-of-the-art technologies.
In addition to state-of-the-art technology, patients at the Buckingham facility will have access to a team of Fox Chase specialists who will carefully plan and carry out each patient's course of radiation treatment. The team will include physicians specializing in radiation therapy (radiation oncologists), radiation therapists, medical dosimetrists, medical radiation physicists, oncology nurses, and a wide array of support staff. The full-time staff will be supplemented by experts from the main Fox Chase campus.

Shelly B Hayes, MD
Director, Buckingham Radiation Therapy Facility
Board certified in radiation oncology, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center as director of the new Buckingham Radiation Therapy Facility. Hayes is an expert in treating patients using external beam radiotherapy, high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy, IMRT/IGRT, and linear accelerator based and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. Trained in IMRT for prostate lung, head, neck, and tumors of the central nervous system, she is experienced in working with HDR and low-dos rate (LDR) therapies for prostate, breasts, and gynecologic malignancies, in addition to HDR endobrachial therapy.
Charlie Ma, PhD
Physicist, Buckingham Radiation Therapy Facility
A Fox Chase Cancer Center Senior Member, Director of Radiation Physics and Professor, Dr. Ma will serve as the physicist at the Buckingham Radiation Therapy Facility. Ma joined the Fox Chase Cancer Center team in 2001. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Institute of Physics (IOP), American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), and American College of Medical Physics (ACMP). His research has been published extensively.
Jiajin (James) Fan, PhD
Radiation Oncology Physicist, Buckingham Radiation Therapy Facility
A Fox Chase Cancer Center employee since 2004, Dr. Fan will serve as the project lead for CyberKnife at the Buckingham facility. Since 2007, he has worked at the Center as an Assistant Professor and an Associate Member. Fan is experienced in monte carlo particle transport theory and applications, radiation therapy dose calculation, plan optimization, in addition to quality assurance, proton radiotherapy and cone beam CT image denoising. He is also an expert in linac source modeling and beam reconstruction, along with radiation dosimetry, IMRT planning, machine commissioning, and shielding system design. A full member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), Fan is a clinical expert in radiation therapy. Fan has a specialized understanding of procedures such as stereotactic radiation surgery, brachytherapy planning, and total body irradiation.
Janet A. Farley, RN, BSN, OCN
Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Buckingham
- Earned a (BSN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Widener University
- 18 years of acute care nursing experience including 13 years focused in Oncology with experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings; 6 years experience in Radiation Oncology.
- Joined Nursing department at Fox Chase in 2000.
- Specialty certification in oncology nursing (OCN) earned and maintained since 2001.
- Hold current certification in Chemotherapy and Biotherapy administration from Oncology Nursing Society and Fox Chase Cancer Center.
- Member of Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)
- Member of ONS local chapter for Bucks/Montgomery counties
- Nurse to Dr Shelly Hayes at Fox Chase's Buckingham Facility participating in the care and management of patients undergoing Radiation Therapy and Cyberknife Therapy from initial consultation through follow up care.
