My practice is focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal malignancies. This allows me to be well-versed in the multitude of complex medical, emotional and social issues facing patients. I use this experience to guide patients through the range of therapeutic options, including the latest research findings and newest clinical trials.

By understanding what patients know about themselves and their preferences, we can arrive at an appropriate treatment approach for each patient's situation. The specialized disease-focused teams at Fox Chase Cancer Center, which include pathologist, gastroenterologist, oncologic surgeons and radiation oncologists all focused on gastrointestinal malignancies, allow for a tremendous depth of care to our patients.

Since joining Fox Chase Cancer Center in 1999, my research has focused on the importance of the surrounding support cells called stroma that tumors utilize to grow and metastasize. This has led to clinical trials investigating this novel approach using new agents that inhibit the tumor stroma in colorectal, pancreas, esophageal and gastric cancers.
