Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies
I joined the medical oncology staff at Fox Chase in 1994 as a hematologist - oncologist. I specialize in treating patients with hematologic malignancies, otherwise known as cancers of the blood. These include leukemia, myeloma and lymphoma.
These cancers are often difficult for patients to grasp, so I like to spend as much time as necessary to educate my patients and their family members on the treatment options and potential outcomes. I find it beneficial for my patients to have a full understanding of their medical situation before we begin treatment.
Fox Chase is a terrific place to practice because we have access to the latest therapies available. Some of the new treatments developed here are called biologic therapies, designed to target the cancer cells. Biologic therapies typically result in better outcomes for patients with fewer side effects. I am also principal investigator on several clinical trials that are designed to improve patient outcomes.
Throughout treatment, we try to provide a warm, caring environment for our patients, who need extra comfort at this time in their lives.
