I joined Fox Chase Cancer Center after completing my residency in radiation oncology at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, having been selected Chief Resident during my final year. During my training, I was fortunate to be able to take care of patients from very diverse backgrounds, and with a variety of illnesses. I was excited to be recruited by Fox Chase to treat gastrointestinal and lung cancer patients.

I particularly enjoy the work I do because of its multidisciplinary nature. Patients with gastrointestinal and lung cancers often get chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, and I enjoy working with the terrific physicians in other departments to come up with the best possible plan for each patient. I particularly appreciate the opportunity to take the time to explain these decisions to my patients, working to ensure that they understand the reasons behind all of the recommendations that are being made. Cancer diagnosis can be frightening, and it has been my experience that the time I spend to help my patients understand their treatment options is very helpful in easing this apprehension.

My specialties include treating patients with cancer of the pancreas, liver, esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum, and anus, in addition to lung. I also have expertise in using stereotactic radiation, meaning the delivery of short courses of radiation with the highest accuracy, while minimizing the risk of side effects to patients.

In addition to my primary role treating cancer patients, I am also pursuing research into ways that patients can be treated more effectively. My previous research, focused primarily on gastrointestinal cancers, has been presented at numerous national meetings and published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. I have also received the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award from the Radiological Society of North America and was selected as a clinical fellow at the ASCO/AACR Workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research in 2009. It is my goal to use my research to extend and improve the lives of my patients.

Clinical Expertise:

Research Interests:

My interests are in clinical research for gastrointestinal cancers. This includes the new application of radiation technology to increase surgical resectability and cure rates. It also includes outcomes work to determine which management strategies are the most effective for these patients.
