Robert Allen Burger, MD, FACOG, FACS
Originally from the northeastern part of the U.S. (New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania), I am one of the newest physicians on staff at Fox Chase. After ten years at the University of California, in September 2008 I moved back to Philadelphia with my wonderful wife and children to join the Fox Chase family.
As a Gynecologic Oncologist, I am committed to helping women affected by or at risk for developing female pelvic cancers such as ovarian, uterine and cervical cancer, through excellence in both patient care and clinical research. This dedication began early in my medical education not only because of the unique problems and challenges women with gynecologic tumors face, but also because of uplifting personal experiences in taking care of this special group of patients.
I came to Fox Chase because of the collegial working environment; the comprehensive, leading-edge approach to patient care; and the integration of research, which has already led to advances in our understanding of how cancers develop, how they may be prevented and how they can be treated more effectively.
In my clinical practice I have always emphasized the importance of communication, patient education and autonomy in the medical decision making process.
