Natalie E Joseph, MD, FACS

I joined the staff at Fox Chase Cancer Center in 2003 after having completed my training in surgical oncology at Fox Chase in 2002. This has afforded me the privilege of joining an institution that strives to provide the highest level of care to cancer patients and has an ongoing commitment to advancing cancer treatment.

A diagnosis of cancer can be overwhelming and each patient's situation is unique. It is important to me that patients feel comfortable and confident with the treatment decisions that I make with them. At Fox Chase, patients are cared for by a multispecialty team of physicians. This allows our patients to have a full understanding of their diagnosis, as well as the many treatment options available to them. It also gives them the opportunity to have a treatment plan that best meets their individual needs.

My primary interests are in the surgical management of colorectal cancer and breast cancer. At Fox Chase, I have had the privilege of expanding the technique of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for colon and rectal cancer. Advances such as this allow us to provide state-of-the-art surgical care with attention to improvement in quality of life. Through collaboration with researchers and peers in surgical, medical and radiation oncology, I am participating in ongoing research to define the best surgical approach for patients with rectal cancer as well as studies geared toward understanding some of the genetic differences that may influence the outcome of patients with colorectal cancer.

I am doing what I love to do by caring for patients with complex cancer problems in an environment that fosters pioneering growth, multispecialty interaction among the cancer specialties, and the full support of ancillary services with a depth of talent and skill that is beyond compare. All of this adds up to one thing and one thing only--better outcomes for our cancer patients.
