I chose to work at Fox Chase Cancer Center because of its national reputation in providing top quality cancer care. In addition, I wanted an opportunity to work with physicians and nurses that are experts in caring for cancer patients.
I consider myself fortunate to work with such a talented gynecologic oncology team at Fox Chase. Together, we formulate comprehensive care plans and work to meet the needs of patients and their families. My role on the team is to not only provide hands-on care to patients, but also to educate patients on their disease process. I believe that well-informed patients are better able to make decisions and participate in their own care.
After joining the staff at Fox Chase, I have found it to be a very special place to practice oncology nursing. While providing the most sophisticated cancer care, Fox Chase also fosters a family atmosphere. Our patients truly receive individualized care and are not treated as numbers, as I have heard can happen at other hospitals.
Having my own family helps me understand the everyday challenges that patients face during treatment. Everyone who works at Fox Chase, regardless of what they do, wants to help people with cancer, which creates a unique focus on the patient. The entire staff is more than willing to pitch in and get things done for the patient. I truly enjoy the collaborative environment here at Fox Chase.
My nursing experience includes gynecologic oncology as well as general women's healthcare. I have worked in obstetrics, fertility and oncology. This varied background and training helps me provide comprehensive care to patients at all stages of care.
Professional development is also important to me as well as educating others about women's health care. I have enjoyed several opportunities to author and lecture on the topic of gynecologic issues.
