Certified Pathologists’ Assistant (ASCP)
Before becoming a Pathologists’ Assistant, I’ve worked in clinical pathology covering laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, microbiology, and coagulation. I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes process in uncovering a patient’s disease and decided to further my education in the field of pathology.
A Pathologists’ Assistant is an intensely trained allied health professional who performs the technical duties within Anatomical Pathology normally performed by the Pathologist. I am trained to perform surgical pathology gross dissections, full autopsy gross dissections and I work collaboration with Pathologists to formulate the gross findings and provisional diagnoses.
Fox Chase provides me with the opportunity unique and complex cases. Though I do not have direct patient contact, I feel privileged to work in a well-known cancer institution and assist in the process of making the patient’s diagnosis.
