Symposium Celebrates Progress, Demands Faster Results

Some of the most learned minds in cancer prevention, research and treatment convened at Fox Chase Cancer Center in June for the symposium, "Toward a Future Without Cancer: Goals for the 21st Century." The symposium, held to honor outgoing Fox Chase president Robert C. Young, MD, and welcome new president, Michael V. Seiden, MD, PhD, provided a comprehensive look at the deeply complex and multifaceted problem of cancer. See the symposium in its entirety.

Dynamic New Leader Shapes Vision for Fox Chase

Michael V. Seiden, MD, PhD, is the fifth president and CEO of Fox Chase Cancer Center. He has a commanding vision for the Center's future, bringing with him extensive clinical, scientific and administrative expertise. Seiden is prepared to lead the institution to a great future but realizes achieving that goal will require contributions from the entire Fox Chase community. Effectiveness of High-Dose Radiation

Study Confirms Effectiveness of High-Dose Radiation in Shorter Time

Radiation oncologist Gary Freedman, MD, led a study proving the effectiveness of high daily doses of radiation therapy administered in four weeks as opposed to the traditional six using IMRT (intensity-modulated radiation therapy). Study participant Lisa Warren discusses her reasons for enrolling in the study. Read more.


Hope Lodge

Hope Lodge to Offer Relief for Traveling Cancer Patients

The new AstraZeneca Hope Lodge will be constructed on Fox Chase Cancer Center's Laurel Avenue campus. Part of the American Cancer Society's Hope Lives Here Campaign, the new lodge will allow patients to temporarily relocate to receive cancer treatment in the Philadelphia area. The Hope Lodge will provide 13,500 free nights annually. Read more.


Lisa Henske, MD

Scientist Recognized for Contributions to Women's Health

Medical oncologist and scientist, Lisa Henske, MD, has earned the Society for Women's Health Research Medtronic Prize for Contributions to Women's Health for research on lymphangioleiomyomatosis or LAM, a rare disease affecting mostly women. For Henske, the science is closely tied to her emotional connection to women with the disease. Read more.
