Function
The DNA Microarray Facility was established for the purpose of producing DNA microarrays that contain available human, mouse and yeast cDNA clones. The facility provides Fox Chase researchers with technical expertise in array design, probe hybridization and data analysis. The basic service of the facility includes the establishment and maintenance of the DNA libraries, the preparation of DNA microarrays and labeled cDNA probes, the hybridization of DNA arrays and the operation of the confocal laser scanner. In collaboration with Bioinformatics/Advanced Desktop Support, the facility will assist investigators in using BioDiscovery microarray software (ImaGene and GeneSight) for data analysis.
Description
The DNA microarray facility provides comprehensive microarray solutions to Fox Chase Cancer Center investigators, as well as researchers from other institutions. The available platforms for genomic research include the Affymetrix GeneChip system, the Agilent SureHyb microarray solutions and the Invitrogen Ncode miRNA microarrays. We provide FCCC researchers with technical expertise in array experiment design, target hybridization and data analysis. The service includes also custom array design and printing. In addition to genomic solutions, the facility has established protein array platforms that allow high throughput screening of hybridomas for monoclonal antibody generation. The facility is equipped with the Omnigrid-100 microarrayer and the Biomek 2000 liquid handling system. The Affymetrix GCOS, Agilent Feature Extraction and the GeneDirector software package from BioDiscovery are used for microarray data analysis and management.
