Conflict of Interest
There has been a significant focus on conflicts of interest in human subjects research by the NIH, the FDA, and the Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP). These agencies are monitoring PI conflicts of interest closely. They seek assurance that conflicts are identified and managed effectively in a way that will withstand public scrutiny.
We have long had policy and procedures in place to ensure that if conflicts exist, they are addressed. In order to further protect you, as an investigator, we request that you complete the COI Attestation Form. Conflict of Interest Attestation forms should be completed annually, per Fox Chase policy. If it determined that a conflict exists, the Chief Compliance Officer will work closely with you to create a plan to manage that conflict in line with commonly accepted standards designed to maintain public confidence in our clinical research program. Conflict information reported on this form will be kept confidential.
This process is an appropriate response to scrutiny by federal agencies monitoring conflict of interest. If you have any questions, contact Joseph Piccolo, Vice President, Health Services, Chief Compliance Officer at 215-728-2904.
