The rates of common cancers, such as breast, prostate, or colon cancer, vary widely across populations.  While genetic factors may play a role, different disease rates may also arise from differences in behaviors and lifestyles.

Dietary differences are especially interesting as a possible explanation for who develops disease, and why.

The objective of this research is to investigate the role of diet in the distribution of cancer.  We characterize diet both in terms of its nutrients (such as dietary fat or calcium) and in terms of its overall pattern (such as red meat + starch, or vegetables + fruits).
