Description:
The Research Assistant will play a central role in a novel and significant 5-year Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality funded study focusing on the development and evaluation of an electronic patient portal for breast cancer patients. The portal system will be designed to address breast cancer patient’s needs by providing patients with personal clinical information (electronic medical records), educational and psychosocial information, decisional support content, clinical- and peer-communication. Responsible for day-to-day study procedures such as portal content and functionality development, participant screening, recruitment, assessment, and interview and usability testing facilitation, as well as assisting the PI with data management in support of the study, its management, and date analysis. Develop and implement systems for coding, entering, verifying, and maintaining portal content and study data. Collaborate with professional, medical, psychological, and IT colleagues, other health and research related staff and fellows and students. Assist with administrative oversight of research project such as tracking study timeline and budgetary issues. Potential for academic growth and involvement with a cutting-edging project including presentations, publications, and further grant funded opportunities.
Requirements:
Interest in women’s health, breast cancer, technology-enhanced intervention, health/medical informatics, clinical process improvement research. Bachelors in social science, public health, science, or a related field; some graduate work or work experience preferred. Experience and skills in research preferred. Excellent organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and an ability to set priorities for productivity. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently yet seek supervision as appropriate. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and flexibility in working with diverse participants and multidisciplinary staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Experience in database management with SPSS and Excel preferred.
