  3. For CURE Student Scientists Only: If the number of qualified CURE students is greater than the five funded positions, would you like to be considered for the FCCC Student Scientist program instead?

  4. Please read and sign the Requirements for Participation form for your program of choice (FCCC or CURE) and include with your application.
  5. Please include a letter of recommendation from a science teacher indicating why she/he feels you will do well as a Student Scientist.
  6. Please provide a copy of your transcripts from the previous two years and the current year.
  7. Why do you want to be a Student Scientist?
  8. Why are you interested in science and/or medicine?
  9. What career or job do you plan to enter? Be as specific as possible.
  10. Mentor scientists must take time away from a very busy schedule to work with students. Mentors get no money or professional recognition for their effort. How will you make it worthwhile for your mentor to work with you?
  11. Please describe any laboratory skills or research experience you have had, including science fair projects.
  12. Please describe any special skills or interests that might be useful in the lab: computers, math, etc.
  13. If accepted, how would you get to the Cancer Center after school? When could you arrive and when would you need to leave? How will you get to the Cancer Center during the summer?
  14. If accepted, how will you fit working two afternoons per week in the lab and our meetings once a month in with homework and your other after school activities?
