High School Student Scientist Program
Topics in This Section
The Partnership for Cancer Research Education is designed to help high school students understand science by participating in cancer research. The Partnership is funded by the Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Supplement from the National Cancer Institute, and the Jack M. Berry Fund for Science Education, and consists of the CURE and FCCC Student Scientist Programs.
We strongly encourage teachers whose students are members of groups traditionally underrepresented in science to use the opportunities provided by the Partnership to expose their students to career options in science. Minority students, please see the CURE Student Scientist program below.
The Student Scientist Program
The Student Scientist program places high school students in Fox Chase Cancer Center labs to work on current research projects. Students work after school and full time in the summer as they learn science information, practice inquiry skills, and try out the life of scientist. Teachers, students, and school program leaders can click on the links in the blue box for more information.
CURE Student Scientists are minority students who participate in the program for two consecutive years. Minority status for this program includes a broad range of individuals.
FCCC Student Scientists are any high school students who participate in the program for one year; click here for details.
