The primary purpose of the Extramural Data Safety and Monitoring Committee is to coordinate and oversee data and safety monitoring for all research conducted through the Fox Chase Cancer center Division of extramural Research. In doing so, the Committee shall:

Review each Division of Extramural Research supported investigator-initiated study and it's proposed data and safety monitoring plan prior to submission to Fox Chase Cancer Center Research Review Committee and Institutional Review Board submission.

Consider the adequacy of the data and safety monitoring plan

Consider the need or lack thereof for the oversight of independent data and safety monitoring

Consider the time and effort involved in oversight of each specific study

Vote to approve the proposed data and safety monitoring plan

Vote to act as the independent oversight committee

Meet at least semi-annually to ensure adequate oversight of research studies

The Committee will work with each investigator and their research team to ensure the safety of subjects participating in research conducted through this division.
