Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
Fox Chase Cancer Center has been named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for mammography, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided biopsy, and stereotactic biopsy. This designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR's voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
Centers that are designated as an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence have:
- Voluntarily gone through a rigorous review process to be sure they meet nationally accepted standards
- Employed personnel who are well qualified, through education and certification, to perform and interpret medical images and administer radiation therapy treatments
- Acquired equipment that is appropriate for the testing or treatment of breast cancer
- Met or exceeded quality assurance and safety guidelines
The ACR designation, administered by the ACR's Commission on Quality and Safety and the Commission on Breast Imaging, recognizes a center's dedication to improving women's health by participating in these rigorous quality assurance programs.
American College of Radiology Accreditation
The Department of Radiation Oncology main campus, Buckingham and the KOP-AUA facility have all received accreditation from the American College of Radiology.
This is a tremendous accomplishment in our ongoing effort to assure that we meet the highest national quality standards and provide the best care for our patients.
