Fox Chase is an academic institution with an emphasis on oncologic training. The Center sponsors clinical fellowships in medical oncology, surgical oncology, and pathology. Surgical residents, internal medicine residents, and medical students from Temple University Hospital also rotate through the hospital for their oncology training.
Fellowship training is a one- or two-year program of additional training for qualified physicians to gain additional experience and education in a discipline. During this period they work on the Fox Chase staff, following training guidelines developed by medical associations and member groups, such as Fox Case Cancer Center. It means a Fellow is not just good in his field, but has the added benefit of learning from some of the best in his (or her) field.
In addition to having a large number of fellowship-trained staff, Fox Chase provides training in
- Breast Cancer
- Hematology - Oncology
- Surgical Oncology
- Advanced Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery
- Urologic Oncology
