Ray Lefton, CPA, DDS, MBA, FHFMA,

  • Chief Financial Officer for Fox Chase Cancer Center and Jeanes Hospital

As Chief Financial Officer of both providers on the Fox Chase/Jeanes Hospital Campus, directs and coordinates the internal and external financial activities of the joint campus, developing and implementing fiscal policies while ensuring compliance.

Lefton comes to the Temple University Health System from the Princeton Healthcare System in N.J. where, as Vice President of Finance, he oversaw that system’s financial reporting and analysis, planning and budgeting, capital management, patient accounting and registration, medical records, managed care contracting and treasury functions. Ray was also CFO of TUHS’s former Temple East subsidiary from 1996 to 2004, overseeing the merger of Northeastern Hospital and Neumann Medical Center, as well as the subsequent consolidation and sale of Neumann. In addition, Ray has served as CFO of Mercy Hospital of Philadelphia and as VP of Finance for the Medicaid HMO, AmeriChoice.

In addition to his considerable experience in treasury and capital structure management, Ray brings to Temple a wide spectrum of expertise in revenue cycles, investment policy, payer contracting, patient and case management accounting, clinical documentation improvement, operational process improvement, program/service expansion analysis, supply chain efficiency, and many other key operational areas.

Ray Lefton holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Michigan, a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan’s School of Dentistry, and a BA in Health Sciences from Kalamazoo College in Michigan. He is a member and Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and has had several articles published in Healthcare Financial Management journal, including an eight-part series on healthcare reform recommendations.
